Challenge Wanaka has been voted as one of the Top 10 most scenic races in the world by Triathlete Magazine. It takes place in the stunningly beautiful Central Otago region, starting and finshing in the town of Wanaka. I know the course very well as I have been visiting the Wanaka region for the last 25 years or so. My in-laws have a second home in the great little hamlet of Lake Hawea that the cycle leg passes through. I have trained around the region many times over the last two or three years and I never tire of the scenery.
